Retail sales jump in March
Retailers on UK high streets enjoyed a strong March, the latest survey from the British Retail Consortium showed, suggesting that higher interest rates haven’t yet cooled the consumer, the Telegraph notes.
According to the monthly survey from the British Retail Consortium/KMPG, like-for-like sales rose at an annual rate of 3.9pc in March, up from 3.3pc in February, and the fastest pace for almost a year. Helen Dickinson, head of retail at KPMG, said the numbers "do highlight a continued level of resilience in the market".
