Guardian and Bebo hunt for nanotales
23.02.07 Anna Richardson
Guardian Unlimited and Bebo.com have joined forces to launch a new literary competition. To mark the launch of Nanotales by Ziv Navoth (Ziji) this week, the Guardian's website and the social networking website are organising a competition encouraging users to write their own "nanotales", which can cover any subject, but in less than 1,000 words.
Entries will be judged by the public and a panel comprising Alan Yentob, creative director of the BBC, Caroline Michel, m.d. of the William Morris agency, Sarah Crown, literary editor of Guardian Unlimited, Franc Roddam, founder of Ziji Publishing, Joanna Shields, president of Bebo International, and author Navoth.
The winning authors will be announced on 16th April, the opening day of the London Book Fair, and their stories will be published in a new anthology by Ziji next year. The competition was launched alongside Bebo Authors, the website's new channel which provides authors with a platform to upload video clips, writing tips and chapter extracts. Navoth is the first Bebo Author to be showcased and his profile will be featured on the Bebo.com homepage.
