Anova wins Websters and Oz Clarke
21.02.07 Tom Tivnan
Anova Books has acquired Websters' wine publishing programme including Oz Clarke’s bestselling Pocket Wine books. The list, which also includes Michael Broadbent’s classic Vintage Wine and Clarke’s backlist titles, had previously been published as a joint venture between Websters and Little, Brown. It moves to Anova’s Pavilion imprint from 1st August.
Websters chairman Adrian Webster said: "Websters was determined to secure an appropriate long-term home for its two top authors with a company willing to commit to the investment such a list requires. It will be a wrench to hand over the cherished work of more than 20 years, but the enthusiasm of Anova for the list leads me to look forward to great things."
Anova publishing director Polly Powell added: "Oz Clarke and Michael Broadbent are a very welcome addition to our flagship Pavilion imprint which has always published exceptional food and drink titles. We have been great admirers of this fantastic list that Adrian built up over many years."
The deal does not include Oz and James's Big Wine Adventure, a companion book to a recent BBC series, which will continue to be published by BBC Books.
