Our client is a world leader in research solutions who are redefining search in the library market worldwide.  They are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join their fun and friendly team based in their Amsterdam HQ to help them build the next generation of search technology.  The role offers exciting work, competitive compensation, a great work environment, and ample opportunities for growth.

The Senior Software Developer will be working as a full time developer on an advanced search engine.  Your responsibilities will be roughly divided into three parts: Website, Data ingestion pipeline and Search technology.  Main duties will include: improving the website back end (C# / .NET); building tools to make the search better; faceted search i.e. search expansion by using structured data, building co-occurrences, fuzzy’s, translations, and building technology for advanced search; improving / optimizing the data ingestion pipeline; supporting the implementations and support team; and helping in building infrastructure for the UI.

The successful candidate will have strong programming abilities, and know C#, Delphi, or C++.  Most of the focus is in .NET (C#).  You will have a degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, with a demonstrated knowledge of algorithms and patterns and be comfortable working in small, agile teams in which you can have a lot of influence on technical choices and the ability to work without direct supervision.  You will have an open personality with strong communication capabilities, quick perceptiveness, and a healthy sense of humour.  Someone with any expertise in the field of search engines, have previously worked with library data, have experience with Agile / Scrum or have contributed to open source projects would be desirable.  Also experience with front end development (Javascript / HTML5 / CSS3 / Less) is a big plus.
