Description:

Our client is a leading international publisher of journals, books and electronic media for academic, educational and professional markets, based in London. They are seeking to appoint a dynamic Senior Publishing Editor to manage and develop a portfolio of Medicine and Life Science titles in their STM Journal’s Editorial department.

The role:

• Manage relationships with Editors and Societies in order to manage and develop the list
• Liaise with journal editors, production and marketing colleagues
• Represent the company at editorial board meetings
• Negotiate and complete contract renewal process for society owned or affiliated titles
• Financial responsibility for the journal portfolio and its profitability

The candidate:

• The successful candidate will have prior experience of managing a list of proprietary and society journals in an editorial capacity, with demonstrable successes
• Will be pro-active, have excellent relationship management skills (with internal and external contracts), commercial awareness and a deep understanding of the journals publishing business and process
• Will be highly motivated and have the capacity to work independently and as part of a team
• Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in a biomedical discipline
