The job:  A well-respected and highly successful Publishing Group is seeking a senior production controller to work on highly illustrated children’s reference titles in their London-based office. Reporting to the Production Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the print production process: from planning to final delivery, including scheduling, costing, quality control, shipping and record keeping, and will liaise extensively with internal departments and outside suppliers to ensure the company gets first class service, excellent quality and competitive prices. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company as it enters a new phase and to be part of a the team who intend to make their mark and quickly establish the company brand as a major player in children’s publishing, both in the UK and internationally.

The person:   Candidates should be experienced in all aspects of illustrated book production, both colour and b/w, including experience of co-editions. Sound knowledge of colour repro, and PDF workflows are required, and knowledge of Biblio would be an additional advantage. The successful candidate will be highly organised, energetic, effective  and committed, showing meticulous attention to detail, strong communication and problem solving skills, and will have the ability to build excellent business relationships with in-house colleagues and external suppliers alike.  For senior controller level, applicants should be also able to demonstrate excellent negotiation and problem solving skills, both at technical and business levels, and will be involved in forward planning, process improvement initiatives and project management. Priority will be given to early applications.
