Description:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Editor to join a leading academic publisher of books and journals. You would be working on the Physics, Maths and Social Science lists. The main office is based in London but our client is willing to consider flexible working/partial home working for the perfect candidate. 

Key duties:

• Responsible for meeting a set target for acquiring a number of new titles a year
• Identify current and future market trends and contribute to the company's editorial plan for future development
• Liaise with authors, freelancers, and colleagues to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget
• Represent the company at academic conferences, university campuses and at other events
• Prepare and present proposals and financials to publishing committee

Experience / skills required:

• Proven commissioning and list development experience in academic or STM book or journal publishing
• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
• Excellent negotiation, networking and relationship management skills
• Line management experience is desirable
• Outstanding communication skills
