Description:

A leading academic publisher of books, journals and electronic products based in Central London is now seeking a Production Editor to join their academic journals list.

The role will include the following:

• Responsible for the publication of journals by planned issue date and length
• Ensure individual articles complete the production process to agreed turnarounds
• Contribute to the appraisal of the quality of work by freelance copy-editors and proof-readers
• Ensure journal specifications are correctly recorded
• Provides support services to the academic editors, board members and contributors and referring queries to the appropriate places
• Keeps managers informed of any important developments or problems with the journals and liaise as required

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Experience of editorial production in journals
• Able to work as part of an integrated team as well as independently
• Excellent time management
• Strong eye for detail
• Good IT skills – word processing and Excel, as well as a good understanding of typesetting, printing and design and online publication
• Experience of liaising with freelance suppliers
• Excellent management of internal and external relationships
