Description:

A leading UK publisher of children's books, based in Central London, is looking for a Production Controller to join their busy and friendly production team for a 14month fixed term contract.   You will have a passion for children's publishing and an excellent eye for detail. 

You will work across the entire portfolio including paperbacks, hardbacks, novelty and board books; CD-ROMS, DVDs etc. You will work with each team on front list hardbacks, first paperback printings, co-edition printings and reprints.  Key responsibilities will involve organising repro for colour books from artwork received; costing new projects from the beginning and negotiating prices, specifications and schedules with overseas suppliers; working closely with internal publishers, editors and designers; raising estimates, purchase orders and updating schedules within the Biblio3 publishing system; developing good working relationships with suppliers; and carrying out general administrative tasks across the department.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a super publishing team and work across a popular and varied children's list.  The successful candidate will have solid experience of in-house Production, ideally with Children’s books.  Experience of producing co-edition titles with overseas suppliers would be beneficial.  You will be fully IT literate with an understanding of InDesign and confident using a MAC as well as a PC.  You will be a good, clear communicator, have a passion for children's publishing and an excellent eye for detail.  You will be able to remain calm under pressure, be receptive, adaptable and responsive, and a great team player.
