Product Manager, Journals (9 month maternity contract)
Company: Inspired Selection
Location: London (Central)
Type: Digital
Salary Description: Competitive Salary
Reference: ER 8724
Description:
A leading London based STM publisher is looking to recruit a talented Product Manager for an initial 9 month maternity cover to work on their journal sites, peer review and editors tools. This is a critical position for the company, with responsibility for driving development of their journals.
The Product Manager works closely with all members of the Publishing team, Product Managers within Publishing and other divisions, the Development team, the Programme Manager and the Head of Publishing Technology.
You will act as product owner for, and drive developments of, sections of the journals sites, peer review and editors tools. This will include defining the product vision, identifying and prioritising product and customer requirements, maximising ROI and working closely with Development and other teams to ensure technical and client satisfaction goals are met. The role also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.
The Product Manager is also responsible for co-ordinating requests for new features and for bug fixes from across the Publishing Department, and for prioritising activities to deliver enhancements and functionality in a cost and resource effective manner, and ensuring that requirements are documented, prioritised, scheduled, delivered and rolled out on time.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of product management, ideally within an STM publishing environment. You will have a clear understanding of the peer review process, experience of open-access publishing and an understanding of the needs of scientists and healthcare professionals, along with experience of working with senior scientists and management. In addition you will have the ability to interpret and communicate complex ideas, excellent analytical skills and the ability to influence others. A degree in a biomedical discipline would be desirable but is not essential, as would experience of working in an Agile development environment.
