Our client a leading STM publisher seeks a Process and Implementation Specialist to be based from their London office. 

The Process and Implementation Specialist takes responsibility for company’s operational policies and procedures, initially in production, monitors and continually improves them to reduce cost, complexity and turnaround time as well as improving customer satisfaction. 

Working alongside the Head of Production and their team you will gain an understanding of what we do and how we do it and look to optimize complex technical systems which have a direct impact on author and editor satisfaction

Knowledge and skills – the ideal candidate will have most if not all of the following:

• Knowledge of how a Publisher works with Business Process Outsourcing 
• Knowledge/experience of Publisher workflows
• Understanding of vendor workflows (eg TeX and XML/3B2)
• Knowledge of technologies used in production: PDF, XML, TeX, graphic formats, HTML, ePub
• Knowledge of processes used in production: copyediting, markup,typesetting, distribution
• Knowledge of STM publisher policies
• Understanding of customer (author) requirements from a publisher’s production service
• Experience of designing and implementing workflows
• Technical writing skills – able to write clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation and make it available (eg via Wiki)
• Experience delivering training
• Able to negotiate sign-off among conflicting stakeholders

General business skills, including:

• Project managing (including planning, risk analysis)
• Influencing
• Reporting
• Communication / customer service skills
• Working in team at all levels (leader, supporter/adviser, ‘do-er’, sponsor, coordinator)
