Description:
Our client, a prestigious publisher leading the way in the academic publishing market, is looking for a Marketing Director to join them in developing and directing global marketing strategy of their successful Academic book and journals lists.
Key duties:
- Develop and direct strategy for the Academic book and journals lists including online content
- Oversee marketing plans for new product development and associated pricing and market positioning
- Define and quantify market opportunities across multiple customer groups in global territories
- Lead in the marketing proposition for major pitches and projects on behalf of authors and societies
- Oversee research capability, to analyse and predict customers’ drivers in target markets to deliver competitive advantage
- Lead, coach and develop the Marketing team across both books and journals
- Lead competitive analysis, monitor competitive landscape as it relates to changes in digital publishing
- Oversee planning and delivery of conferences, events, sales meetings and webinars
Experience / skills required:
- Proven track record of marketing at a senior level within the academic books and / or journals sector
- Ideally with advanced marketing qualification (or equivalent ) and solid knowledge of the digital publishing arena
- Good technical knowledge of publishing, marketing and digital media
- Strong marketing experience including hands on campaign and strategic experience
- Relevant line management experience including leading and motivating teams
- Excellent business management skill and strong commercial instinct
- Highly organised with great communication skills
