This role provides a great opportunity to work on a list of Materials Science journals (primarily reviews titles) as well as working alongside the Editor of an open access magazine to develop webinars and other materials science initiatives relevant to this academic community.

The role will balance scientific knowledge with entrepreneurial skills and a keen interest in new online developments. Working in a global team the Publisher role will involve elements of: * journal and portfolio management, * content quality assurance, * market positioning; * relationship building and networking with prominent individuals, institutions and organisations; * acquisition and contracting of new content; and * devising strategic development plans for individual titles and the list as a whole.

This unique opportunity will also have broader responsibility for assisting other Publishers across the team with advice or problem-solving in their subject specialism, involving meetings/telephone calls with Editors, visits to societies, basic market research and monitoring the competitor landscape.

The ideal candidate will have a degree (ideally postgraduate) in a relevant scientific discipline and will be results-driven with strong commercial instincts and the ability to negotiate and network with ease. The ability to take initiative and work creatively to produce innovative and profitable journals is essential. Demonstrable experience working in scientific publishing would be a distinct advantage.

Applicants should be willing to travel for 6-8 weeks each year. The position will ideally be based in Oxford, though exceptional candidates in the US or China may also be considered.
