Description:

Our client is a leading STM Publisher in London looking to appoint an Editor. This is a new role and the successful candidate will be responsible for developing the list of Physics journals.  Managing the managing editors and board members, the Editor will commission articles with the aim of growing the journals.  This is an excellent opportunity for an experience Editor with an academic background in Physics.

Key duties:

  • Contribute to the development of strategy and implementation plans for the journals
  • Negotiate and manage contractual relationships with journal scientific editors and/or societies
  • Manage and take responsibility for the day-to-day publishing operations that maintain and develop the existing portfolio
  • Manage the budget and meet set targets for growth within the Physics portfolio
  • Provide input to the annual pricing/budgeting process for the  portfolio when required
  • Input to marketing plans for the assigned product portfolio
  • Identify new market needs and business opportunities
  • Establish, manage and maintain excellent contacts and networks with key external stakeholders

 

Experience / skills required:

  • An academic background in Physic (Masters degree or equivalent)
  • Experience in an Editorial role, specifically in journal publishing
  • The ability to travel 20% of the year
  • Experience in online social media tools and technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A good overview of the scientific world with excellent contacts within the world of Physics
