Description:

A cutting-edge STM journal publisher has an opening for a Journal Development Manager to help form a new team in the area of Health Sciences and Applied Sciences and to develop and manage a portfolio of open access health journals.

Key duties:

• Actively develop and manage a portfolio of journals in the area of Health and Applied Sciences
• Build and maintain relationships with editors within the team and with societies
• Identify opportunities to bring in new journals to the portfolio and oversee new journal launches
• Network within global health communities to ensure successful development of journals
• Provide line-management and training for Development Editors working on their own journals
• Oversee the implementation of journal publishing plans in line with company strategy
   

Experience / skills required:

• Established experience of developing journals in the area of health and medicine
• Experience of liaising with authors, editorial boards, and reviewers
• Proven interest in open access publishing and health sciences
• Some project management and acquisitions experience
• Mentoring or line management experience would be an advantage
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and excellent communication skills
