A leading international supplier of print and electronic books to the Trade and Academic markets is seeking a General Manager for their Spanish territory. Based in Madrid, this 6 month fixed-term contract holds full responsibility for the management, development and growth of the business throughout Spain. Reporting to the International Sales Director, the General Manager for Spain will be responsible for the regional business plan including a 3 year revenue and business development outlook. You will establish the company’s strategic vision and path to success through identifying key partners and customers and gaining a full understanding of the sector and region they operate in; create, develop and nurture relationships with the most influential and strategically important parties and organizations; develop strong connections, relationships and understanding across the UK business; ensure operational delivery is working successfully; and understand how to work with customers to help create the conditions for success. You will work with the International Sales Director to finalise and agree the full regional business plan to ensure revenue growth, operating gross and net margins and people management objectives are achieved.
The successful candidate will have a business development background with experience in leading teams of people (ideally in a multi-channel sales environment) from other functions but complimentary to the sales process. Furthermore you will have experience of creating and delivering business change and being able to develop and deliver a clear and dynamic business vision. With Spanish and English language skills, the ideal candidate will have strong people skills, and be used to a very dynamic, energetic environment and capable of establishing firm and positive relationships. Analytical skills, customer focus and the ability to find ways to identify revenue potential and successfully acquire it, are all a must. You will be a energetic team player with a strong set of values and ideals, and over all an inspirational leader.
