A leading publisher of ELT resources across print and digital is now seeking a Development Editor to join their growing team based in Central London to take responsibility for developing a list of print and digital products for ELT focusing primarily on their Secondary lists.

 

The major function of this role will be to work within a team in order to develop content specifically for a particular project as assigned by the Publishing Operations Director. 

 

Key responsibilities within the team will be to work closely with the Commissioning Editor and Publishing Development Director and will include:

 

-          Market research

-          Identifying and maintaining suitable authors – this includes briefing, scheduling and giving feedback

-          Specifying in detail the project components including design, configuration market information and costing.

-          Ensuring all project details and schedules are communicated to all relevant team members

-          Relationship building – with both your team as well as with teachers and authors from different cultural backgrounds

 

The ideal candidate will have previous editorial experience with a sound understanding of the editorial processes; previous experience within Educational publishing would be an advantage and a CELTA or TEFL qualification or proven experience within ELT publishing is essential. You will need to be able to understand and empathise with teachers’ needs and circumstances as part of the creative process.

 

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills as well as an ability to manage projects and problem solve effectively; you will also have a strong commercial acumen and the desire to develop your own market knowledge within the ELT arena.
