A global publisher of higher education textbooks is looking to appoint a Development Editor, Print and Digital, to be based in either their Dubai or Athens office and to be responsible for the development of textbooks and learning solutions along with the digital materials associated with them.

Reporting to the Editorial Manager (MEA) the Development Editor will be responsible for: conducting and analyzing market reviews of both print and digital content; working with authors to implement review recommendations; bringing projects in on schedule and within budget; checking manuscripts and proofs; and providing guidance to SMEs, authors and Editorial Assistants in all aspects of above responsibilities.   

The successful candidate will have solid editorial experience in textbook publishing and a good understanding of development in both print and digital formats. Arabic language skills are desirable, but not a must.  You will have a strong understanding of the academic market and changing student and lecturer expectations as well as an understanding of pedagogic requirements of students and lecturers and know how to incorporate these in teaching and learning materials both in print and in digital products.  The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and be financially astute.  You will also have attentive to detail, good editorial and communication skills, and a problem solving mindset with a confident and commercial approach.  Our client offers a competitive salary and benefits package and an excellent opportunity to build a career with a world leading educational publisher.
