Description:

A leading international academic publisher based in Oxfordshire, is looking for a Deputy Manager - Inventory Control based in the production department of their books department. This is a key role central to helping the business adapt to the rapidly changing needs of modern, global academic publishing.

Key duties:

• Help deliver change and real benefits for the whole publishing business
• Provide analytical capacity to the inventory team
• Review stock levels globally, identifying overstocks and monitoring margins on printings
• Provide key support for the Head of Inventory with list acquisitions and other cross-business initiatives
• Work with other team members to help develop and test updates and improvements to core business systems, from electronic ordering to developing on-demand printing in new markets and supporting the integration of frontlist and backlist decision making

Experience / skills required:

• Previous inventory/reprint experience, ideally in book publishing
• Considerable understanding of the practice of inventory management
• A thorough understanding of the evolving needs of the publishing business
• Staff management experience would be an asset
• Change management experience, and strong systems skills, including experience of inventory management and production software and systems
• Sound analytical skills, ideally using reporting packages such as business objects
• The ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise
