Have you a sound understanding of the Scientific Publishing sector in China, along with commercial awareness and a global mindset?

Our client is a world leading publisher of scientific information with offices around the globe. They are seeking a Country Head to lead their future business and editorial activities in China to aid them in establishing a strong presence in China with particular emphasis on science and education. Based in Shanghai, the Country Head will be responsible for identifying and developing both local and global scientific opportunities involving China. Your duties will include managing and developing a new team of 4 editors for the company’s online journal; networking with leading Chinese scientists to encourage high quality submissions; working closely with colleagues internally and externally; expanding and developing their open-access titles; and developing the scientific communication services. Furthermore, the Country Head, along with colleagues, will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s site license sales, sponsorship and advertising continue to grow in China.

The successful candidate will have firsthand knowledge of science in China, with a fluency in English and a strong a working knowledge of Mandarin would be a bonus but is not essential. It would be beneficial to have a doctoral degree in science along with post-doctoral experience, but this is not essential either. You will have strong financial and team management capabilities with excellent communication and organisation skills.
