Commissioning Editor – A global educational publisher, based in Oxford, is looking to appoint a Commissioning Editor with demonstrable experience in educational and/or children’s publishing. Working with the Director of Planning and the Publishing Director you will help to create and manage content for both fiction and non- fiction and will commission projects for the ongoing publishing schedule. The successful candidate will also work closely with colleagues, based in the US, to ensure the international, multi-channel focus of all projects and will identify and build excellent relationships with a range of quality authors, guiding them through all stages of writing.
Ensuring that Editors maintain high levels of quality and that projects are developed in line with approved concept, budget and schedule will be important. You will also be expected to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal colleagues; prepare and present at sales conferences; provide appropriate sample material for sales colleagues and work with the Editorial Manager to mentor less experienced members of the team. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate first class organisational and project management skills and will ideally have a sound understanding of multiple market channels in both the UK and US markets.
