A well respected ELT publisher is looking to recruit a Commissioning Editor to initially work on their Primary ELT list, with potential to expand into other areas. The Commissioning Editor will be responsible for developing key titles in progress as well as commissioning new materials for the list. This will involve identifying and nurturing new authorial talent, briefing authors and guiding them through the development process. Key responsibilities include negotiating and communicating with all authors and external suppliers, briefing in-house designers, collaborating with marketing and sales to ensure an all-round understanding of new products and projects. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a track record of successful product development within educational, academic or ELT publishing, and those with existing commissioning experience will have an advantage. ELT teaching experience is essential, with preference given to those who have experience teaching adults. Digital expertise would also be highly desirable. The company is able to consider applicants looking to step up into their first commissioning position if they can demonstrate experience in market research and proposal preparation, and have significant experience teaching English. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital as is the ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously whilst working to deadlines and under pressure. Some travel may be expected for market research purposes.
