Description:

A leading educational publisher based in Gloucestershireis looking for a Commissioning Editor to work primarily on their Secondary Maths product. This is an excellent opportunity to gain commissioning experience within a forward thinking, award winning educational publisher.

Key duties:

• Source and negotiate with authors to commission print and electronic products for relevant markets
• Propose and plan adaption of existing print or electronic products in line with strategy and customer requirements
• Employ project management skills to develop detailed product briefs
• Support project teams to ensure delivery of products to agreed budgets and schedules
• Maintain an up-to-date awareness of competitor activity and market developments and requirements
• Contribute to future strategy and publishing programme as required
• Liaise with International Department to identify export opportunities

Experience/ skills required:

•  Proven experience in an editorial role within educational book publishing
• Solid understanding of the UK schools and higher education markets
• A maths background (minimum A-Level standard) is required
• Working knowledge of print and electronic publishing processes
• Excellent communication skills and experience of liaising with authors and education professionals
• A proactive and commercial approach
• Project management and line management experience
