Description:

A leading schools educational publisher is looking for an experienced Commissioning Editor to join its Modern Foreign Languages division and work on new A Level Languages titles.  This is a fixed-term contract for up to 18 months and can be based in London or Oxfordshire.

Key duties:

• Manage the commissioning and development of new editions of  A Level languages titles
• Manage the research, commissioning and strategic planning for new editions of reference titles
• Research and identify opportunities for the GCSE languages market
• Work with the Head of Languages to set budgets and ensure these are met and in line with targets
• Work closely with authors to ensure delivery of market-focused materials
• Establish productive relationships with sales and marketing teams to help build effective campaigns and drive sales

Experience / skills required:

• Established commissioning experience in secondary languages publishing
• Knowledge and understanding of the UK education system and education market
• Experience of working on multi-component print and digital products
• A commercial approach and experience of developing customer focused learning materials
• A background in Modern Languages would be advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong influencing skills
