Description:

An excellent opportunity for a Commissioning Editor to join the successful International ELT department of a prestigious educational publisher, to work on resources for their Adult list. You will work within a publishing project team to develop the content, identifying suitable authors and developing the design of the list. The role is a 12 month contract and can be London or Oxford-based.

Key duties:

• Work closely with colleagues to develop and oversee editing of course material for designated list
• Identify and assess potential authors and assist in commissioning authors to work on key components
• Take responsibility for all aspects of author management
• Schedule and conduct market research required to ensure project meets the Publisher’s initial brief
• In consultation with senior colleagues, identify components, design and layout for projects

Experience / skills required:

• Solid commissioning and product development experience in an editorial role within Adult  ELT publishing
• Formal ELT qualification and a knowledge of ELT markets and segments
• Awareness of production processes and their time and cost implications
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Proactive, team-player with project leadership abilities
