Location : Asia-Pacific

Salary : £50,000 Basic + Bonus

Our client, a leading academic publisher requires an entrepreneurial Business Development Manager for Asia-Pacific. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Achieve sales and profitability targets within cost budgets, in particular through aggressive growth in sales of electronic databases, eBooks and Journals
• Set regional sales strategy, planning to maximize revenue from existing key markets while building sales in less developed ones
• Build and manage the regional sales team
• Strategic business management (pipeline management, country and customer development)
• Proactive relationship-management with local sales agencies and distributors
• Support of local representatives, agents and distributors in large or complex negotiations
• Development of market segments for new product ranges

Experiences: 

• Experience working for an academic or STM publisher
• Significant sales experience in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly with electronic databases, journals and eBooks
• Experience of selling to the Academic, Government and Public sectors. 
• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
• Excellent negotiation skills and commercial flair
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Ability to present clearly and confidently
• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of one or more major Asian language (Chinese, Japanese) would be an advantage
• Ability to work or relocate to the Far East.
