A leading publisher of educational books, directories, magazines and digital platforms, based in Singapore, is looking for a skilled Acquisitions Editor to join their busy and friendly Editorial team at their Headquarters based in Singapore.

The Acquisitions Editor will work closely with the Publisher to assist in developing the publishing programme and to effectively implement the publishing strategy. Your main duties will include: market research (both print and digital) and interpreting findings; achieve signings target in line with publishing plan; staying in touch with market trends and needs; commission authors and negotiate contracts; conceptualise publication; work with authors on proposals and sample chapters and evaluate them; manage author relationships; work with Sales and Marketing on marketing message and achieving sales targets; work with authors and colleagues to ensure high quality and timely publications.

The successful candidate will be an experienced editor who is familiar with the acquisitions process and has the ability to understand and act quickly upon market developments, new trends and potential business opportunities. With a market focused and commercially driven work ethic, the Acquisitions Editor will demonstrate creativity, excellent communication, organization and analytical skills and have an excellent command of English. Furthermore the ideal candidate will be able to build strong personal networks within the educational community. Editorial experience, teaching experience or sales and marketing experience especially in the educational publishing industry will be advantageous.
