'Major' deal for US debut

In a "major" new deal, Bloomsbury US and UK have acquired world English rights in Valeria's Last Stand, the first novel by US writer Marc Fitten. The rights were pre-empted by Bloomsbury US publisher Colin Dickerman & Bloomsbury UK's editor-in-chief Alexandra Pringle, and the deal was struck with agent Bill Clegg of the William Morris Agency.
The book, which is due to be published next spring, is a modern day fable about a spinster living in a small town in Hungary, where the author was based in the 1990s.
