Walker Books has won an auction between seven other publishers for a debut novel from a co-designer of YouWriteOn.com, the website for new writers. Martyn Bedford, who co-designed the site's ratings system, has signed a five figure contract with Walker Books for his young adult fiction novel, Flip, and his second book.

Walker Books has brought forward publication of a new Alex Rider novel, Crocodile Tears, to this autumn after author Anthony Horowitz delivered the manuscript earlier than expected.
