Book sales in 2010 fall by more than 3%

Spending on books in the UK fell by more than £56m last year, Nielsen BookScan data has revealed. Sales during the 52 weeks to 25th December 2010 totalled £1.696bn, down 3.2% on 2009, with volume sales falling 4.3% to 225.5m.
