Global media business Reed Elsevier has successfully raised £824m following the group's "accelerated" placing of more than 160m new shares on the London and Amsterdam Stock Exchanges. Reed announced the placing yesterday (30th July) after admitting that its debt levels, at £5bn, were "too high".
