Michael Jones, Borders' former head of books, has joined HarperCollins as its head of local sales and marketing. She joins today (12th October) and will report to trade sales director Wendy Neale. She will be responsible for managing the field sales team as well as in charge of local marketing for independents and Waterstone's.

New buyer for Borders

Borders has appointed Michael Jones as its new senior fiction buyer, replacing Amy Tipper, who left Borders earlier this year to join Penguin's sales team. Jones joins from Amazon, where she was a category manager.
