Irish author Patricia Scanlan has left Transworld for Simon & Schuster.
The novelist, who has been with Transworld since 1994, has signed a two-book deal for world rights to her titles through Maxine Hitchcock, editorial director of fiction at S&S, and agent Sarah Lutyens at Lutyens & Rubinstein.

Waterstones' m.d. James Daunt has told independent publishers that the “promised land” of a new Waterstones will be delivered by Christmas 2012. Print book sales were down 13% (£15m) to £98m year-on-year in February, according to Nielsen BookScan data.
