The Booksellers Association has unveiled a benchmarking scheme for independent booksellers. The initiative will allow individual booksellers to compare the performance of their shops with other independents.

The Booksellers Association has joined a campaign to quash government plans to raise the Uniform Business Rate by 5% from April. Independent bookshops are also attempting to negotiate lower lease terms and switch from quarterly to monthly payments to save costs and improve cashflow.
