Hodder & Stoughton has bought a debut about Roman Britain, The Lion and The Lamb, by Durham academic Dr John Henry Clay.
The publisher acquired British and Commonwealth rights from James Gill at United Agents and will publish in 2013. Italian rights have been sold to Newton Compton in a pre-empt.
