Chatto & Windus has acquired two non-fiction titles on the subject of journeys.
Publishing director Clara Farmer acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in a book with the working title Crossing London by Gillian Tindall, on proposal from Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown.

Foyles and Blackwell are teaming up for the first time to organise a joint Charing Cross Road "festival". The series of events, due to launch in June, is aimed at attracting customers to the bookshops following a 10% drop in footfall and book sales because of construction works for Network Rail's Crossrail project.

Waterstone’s branch at 19-23 Oxford Street will close temporarily in early 2009 as the area is redeveloped as part of the new Crossrail train line. It is unclear how long the shop will be closed for, although staff have been told they will be relocated to other stores while the work is carried out.
