The online review
21.12.07
It is difficult to sum up a year that began with the triumphant return of Alan Sutton, and ended with the, erm, departure of Alan Sutton. My colleague Liz Bury does a sterling job of putting the year in perspective in her A to Z of 2007.
I've worked in this business for about 10 years, but it never fails to surprise. My personal highlights of the year were:
- Listening to Minna Fry over my morning porridge tell Radio Five Live listeners that Asda would be a "Harry Potter free zone". It wasn't.
- Being told by Fopp that its decision to cancel book orders was down to a warehouse move, that no-one seemed to know about.
- Charkin's move to Bloomsbury.
- Borders UK being put up for sale (the Wall Street Journal had the scoop).
