Macmillan Education, part of the Macmillan publishing group, is looking to recruit a Design Manger to work on its list of school books for Africa.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of book design.  The role includes commissioning both text and cover design, setting and controlling budgets for the titles and ensuring that these are adhered to.  You will also be responsible for drawing up schedules in consultation with the rest of the team and making sure that these are maintained.  Working closely with Commissioning Editors you will ensure that high quality creative design is achieved.

The ideal candidate will have:

• experience of commissioning cover and text design
• a comprehensive knowledge of Indesign
• strong organisational and administrative skills
• the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload
• the ability to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team
• strong communication and negotiation skills
• a positive attitude and commitment to aims of the department.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our busy but friendly design team.  Occasional travel to the market may be required.
