This role provides a good opportunity to take on a list management role covering titles in Planning and Urban Studies. Our client, a renowned academic publisher, has a vacancy for an ambitious and motivated individual to join a friendly and successful journal publishing team. The jobholder will manage a group of titles, and be active in its future growth and development. This is a varied and demanding role likely to involve international travel and significant contact with high profile academics and learned societies.

Core responsibilities include: * building good relationships with a global group of academic editors and learned society contacts; * overseeing the financial well-being of the list; * realising opportunities for organic growth; * developing electronic products and ensuring that existing contracts are renewed; * working with colleagues in marketing, production and other departments; * making presentations at editorial board meetings; and * preparing financial projections. The role also has scope for commissioning work, supporting the acquisition programme of the Publisher.

Candidates should hold a degree (or equivalent) and have experience in either a journal or book editorial environment. The job would suit an experienced Editorial Assistant/Assistant Editor (or similar), looking to take on additional responsibility in developing a list of their own. Those with prior experience managing titles will be at an advantage. Applicants will need enthusiasm, commercial acumen and flexibility. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.
