The job: A leading UK based online retailer of DVDs, CDs, books, games and electronic products is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, energetic Book Buyer. Reporting to the Category Manager for books the successful candidate will work closely with marketing teams to develop and drive the product strategy. Key aspects of the role include negotiating with suppliers to obtain best terms, managing trading activities and supplier relationships and ensuring operational performance targets are achieved.

The person:  Preferably educated to graduate level or equivalent, candidates will need experience of working within a Buying or Product function, at Assistant Buyer level or above in a retail or mail order environment, ideally with experience of online retail. Key requirements include experience of the book retail trade and sound commercial acumen. Some experience in educational or academic books would be an advantage but is not essential. Candidates will need excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, strong organisational abilities and attention to detail. The role requires someone who really understands the book world and who can bring enthusiasm and energy to the team.

Salary:  £30-35k, possibly more for an exceptional candidate.
