Our client is a leading global publisher of educational titles based in North London. They are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager to manage a team of seven in its English Language Teaching division.

Key duties will include:

• Purchasing pre-press and manufacturing services for frontlist and backlist programmes
• Contributing to strategic planning
• Providing production and technical guidance to publishing divisions
• Reviewing publishing plans to ensure appropriate allocation of workload within the production team
• Working alongside the Head of Production and other managers to review and improve production processes throughout the department by the exploitation of new technology and application of the best practice
• Implementing cost savings through negotiation, alternative lines of supply and application of new technology within the context of agreed strategy and targets
• Managing staff in terms of performance management, staff appraisals and staff recruitment

The ideal candidate will be an experienced production manager looking to take their next step in their career. Good technical knowledge is essential – with a thorough understanding of the pre-press processes, and experience working with non print products. Applicants should also have a strong understanding of the global print markets and be experienced print buying overseas. Prior people management experience is also an essential.
