A challenging and rewarding opportunity to become a Director of Global Purchasing reporting to the Vice President. Working for a leading global enterprise providing content and services for the academic, professional, scientific, technical, medical, scholarly and consumer markets.

Working as part of the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for developing global strategy for the production and distribution purchasing function, ensuring competiveness in the market place, implementing global methodologies for journal and book content management, taking strategic views on off-shoring, working with colleagues to improve operational efficiency, supplier relations, ensuring service levels are maintained, fostering the development and maintenance of technical production and developing staff for job satisfaction and succession planning.

Candidates will have ideally worked in scholarly publishing or a supplier environment of a large organisation or will have come from a procurement background outside of publishing or printing, and will have managed a department at a fairly senior level. You should have a fairly sophisticated view of business, with experiences of the internal and external challenges. This role will involve a significant amount of travel particularly to the Middle East and Asia so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable with this.
