We are looking to recruit a marketing executive to work on our publishing products, mainly print and electronic books. This person will work with the marketing manager to develop campaigns targeting end users. The role has a strong e-marketing focus, with the flexibility to adopt new techniques and technologies into the marketing mix. New products are always being developed, or existing products expanded, and marketing plays a key role in researching viability, and developing business plans.Based on above plans, work with key stakeholders in the business to successfully develop and implement marketing campaigns from concept to delivery, targeting a wide range of potential customers and influencers. Deliver on budget and on time using analysis, planning and control to ensure successful, cost effective and timely campaigns
Products in portfolio
Information products covering the life sciences (agriculture, animal and vet science, environmental science, etc) Including: books; digital information products (CAB Abstracts and Global Health databases) internet resources; compendia; eBooksKey responsibilities
- Create marketing plans geared toward end users for each key product within portfolio, in line with strategy and targets and within budget.
- Work with the in-house designer to produce materials of visual impact and within brand guidelines.
- Work with the business innovations department to develop new ideas for reaching end user markets using the latest in electronic technologies.
- Write copy for each product, reflecting key messages, features and benefits.
- Involve key stakeholders for product at each stage of campaign, and report results once completed.
- Use email, adwords and other electronic marketing techniques to inform customers of new products and generate sales.
- Create and implement marketing communications for books from pre-publication to post-publication.
- Liaise with Events Coordinator to maximise visibility at conferences, including compiling a list of products and literature to display/demo, producing delegate inserts, etc.
- Where appropriate, attend key conferences to manage booth, do customer interviews and focus groups.
- Keep website up to date as necessary using the internal web administration tools.
- Perform market research to assess viability of potential new products and to measure success of recent campaigns.
The personDesired experience and knowledge
Degree, preferably in marketing or new media. 1-2 years experience working in a broad marketing role, preferably within the publishing industry. Strong e-marketing experience and a passion for new technologies are essential.
