The Institute of Ismaili Studies seeks an Assistant Website Content Editor to work in our Information Technology & Website Unit, to start as soon as possible.

The Institute’s website, launched in July 2000, is an important resource for Ismaili and Shi‘i Studies. Partly available in four languages, the website contains news and information about the Institute and its programmes, articles dealing with various aspects of Islam and Muslim societies, and audiovisual galleries on the literature, culture and history of Muslim peoples.

This post is to provide administrative support to the entire website team. The person appointed will be responsible to the Website Content Editor and will undertake many different tasks supporting all aspects of the team’s work. A suitably experienced person will help develop the site by administering and tracking the progress of new content and translations, and by editing some pre-existing content from other sources. The Assistant Website Content Editor will work as part of the website team and will liaise with the various departments of the Institute and with outside organisations.

A degree in Islamic Studies or a related discipline would be desirable; a degree in the Social Sciences or Humanities would also be considered. Writing, editing and written and verbal communications skills are vital in this role. The ideal candidate must be familiar with the IIS’ website and have experience of working on content management for a website. To be effective, candidates need to be sociable, resourceful and creative. Knowledge of the languages used on the website is desirable.
