An international academic publishing house is looking to appoint a Production Editor to manage the publication of a group of titles within the geography, planning and area studies production team. The position involves the production control of a portfolio of academic journals within house styles, schedules, budgets and quality requirements.

Responsibilities include: • Chasing academic editors for copy for publication to agreed schedules. • Checking copy edited manuscripts, selecting and monitoring freelance copy editors. • Preparing issues for typesetting and coordinating proof despatch. • Coordinating and collating author’s and editors’ corrections. • Coordinating, checking and passing issues for press. • Checking bound copies and online issues. • Monitoring and implementing schedules, progress chasing. • Building relationships and liaising with academic editors and other external/internal contacts. • Quality control throughout the publication process.

The successful candidate will ideally have prior experience of working in a busy journals production department, be able to copyedit and proofread, have a keen eye for detail, be happy to work to tight deadlines and possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
