The job:  A leading international Library and Academic supply company that provides books and technical services to academic, research, libraries and ELT customers both in the UK and internationally, is planning to appoint 2/3 Book Buyers to further enhance their business development activities and services. Reporting to the General Manager, the Buyers’ primary role will be to identify appropriate publishers, develop and maintain productive relationships, select suitable titles, negotiate terms, and handle the management and promotion of titles. 

The person: Candidates will need to be graduates, ideally with a background as an academic book seller, with sound buying experience, and capable of taking full responsibility for the buying process management. Successful candidates will be familiar with the UK academic book trade, publishers and distributors, and have experience in discount negotiation in the academic book market. Highly numerate, with confident communication and interpersonal skills, those appointed will be well organised planners, with the ability to use initiative, and have outstanding relationship management aptitude. A results-focused attitude, strong commitment and self-motivation, plus a positive approach to team-working, are also important attributes for these key proactive roles.

Salary:  Up to £25k pa, [depending on experience]
