A leading organisation providing educational support to Local Authorities and schools, based in Reading, is looking to appoint a Copyright Co-ordinator to handle copyright issues for material to be included in their publications (print, website, and DVD formats).

The role will involve locating rights owners for the material and obtaining license to use, as well as advising authors on copyright matters. Your key duties will be: contacting rights holders for permission to include material in new or reprinted publications; overseeing the tracking of rights applications – updating files and their database, and creating reports; supporting the Intellectual Property Manager in ensuring that copyright and permissions are obtained for all publications; taking part in project meetings and providing advice and guidance to other members of staff on copyright issues for future projects.

You will need to be a fast learner with excellent time management and organisational skills, and you will possess a good eye for detail. A diplomatic and sensitive approach is required in this post, so good communication skills are also key. You should be proficient in MS Word and Excel and be used to working with databases and experience within a permissions/rights environment – ideally within publishing - would be advantageous.
