The job: A long established publisher, specialising in non-fiction trade publishing and children’s books is looking for a Marketing & Publicity Executive to work across their prestigious education and children’s lists. The successful candidate will have responsibility for writing press releases, organising mailings, co-ordinating sales conference presentations, submitting titles for prizes and listings, organising consumer adverts, setting up events and securing press coverage for titles. They will brief designers, freelancers, print buying and write copy for flyers, posters and brochures for direct mail e.g for schools, newsletters and web projects. Further aspects of the role include overseeing production of the company’s education catalogues and generally contributing ideas to the over-all marketing strategy for the lists including participating in brainstorming for forthcoming campaigns.

The person: Candidates will need good awareness of both the education and children’s book markets ideally with experience within a similar role within publishing. Good written and verbal communication abilities are a must as are excellent computer skills including Quark, Powerpoint and Adobe Acrobat. The role will suit a well organised and efficient individual with ability to meet tight deadlines whilst handling multiple tasks often unsupervised.
