To work on Ransom’s list of books - all designed to develop reading skills in young children through to adults.

Researching opportunities for, and defining an overall vision for, a new series.

Briefing and working with authors and illustrators to implement that vision. Assessing text, rewriting, levelling and editing. Picture research or commissioning photographs. Working closely with the designer on layout, design and use of illustrations.  Copyediting and management of freelance proofreaders.

The role will report to the Publishing Director and will involve working closely with all the editorial team.

You will need strong language skills, a strong attention to detail, good research and project management skills, and excellent communication skills. You will be highly organised, highly motivated and will thrive on pressure. Editorial (or related) experience and knowledge of the literacy market would be useful.
