Are you an experienced Editor with a desire to develop colourful and innovative children’s literacy materials? Our client, a prominent Oxford-based educational publisher, is looking to appoint an Editor to work on both print and electronic resources in primary literacy. The position offers the opportunity to add significant value to primary literacy resources through hands-on work developing pupil book text, writing illustration briefs, working closely with authors and series editors and liaising with colleagues in commissioning, design and production teams.

The ideal candidates will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate strong skills in structural editing. Those with experience of primary literacy materials, and a feel for this market, will have a distinct advantage, either through teaching or previously working in a publishing/editorial environment. Excellent editorial project management ability is essential to cover multiple projects to potentially tight deadlines. Engaging pupils is high on the list of priorities for the products our client produces.

Applicants will need an eye for design both on the page and on-screen, and will also consider the needs of the market whilst combining this with editorial project management skills. Self-motivation is important and you will thrive working as part of a team. Strong communication skills are important for developing and maintaining solid working relationships, both internally and externally.
